Vertical stack behind the basin
Every tile stands on end and every joint lines up top to bottom, so the wall reads as a run of narrow columns rather than a grid. The joints are fine and pale against the off white glaze, which keeps the rhythm quiet. The glaze is slightly uneven, so light from the sconces breaks in soft vertical streaks down each column.
