Confirm the exact tile is approved for floor and wet-area use, review relevant slip-resistance test evidence, and coordinate falls, drainage, waterproofing, adhesive and grout with the installer. Small pieces and extra grout joints do not replace a compliant system.

No. The National Construction Code treats tiles as water-resistant surface materials when they are used with a suitable substrate; the wet area still needs an appropriate waterproofing system. The applicable pathway and construction details depend on the building and project, so confirm them before tiling starts.

A rating records performance under a particular test method and condition. It is evidence to use in selection, not a universal approval for every bathroom, shower or outdoor area. The P classes shown on this site are the values in the supplier's documentation; we have not seen the test reports behind them. Match the report to the exact product, expected wet or dry conditions, drainage, cleaning and the people using the space.

Not automatically. A tile offered for wall use may not have evidence for floor wear, wet-area use or slip performance. Check the exact product specification, the sheet backing where the tile comes on a sheet, intended location and installation system. For a floor, also consider drainage, surface transitions, expected traffic and cleaning.

There is no single percentage that suits every project. Start with the measured net area, then assess the layout, room shape, edge cuts, pattern direction, sheet module, breakage risk, future spare needs and pack quantities. Use the calculator for planning arithmetic and ask the installer to confirm the final allowance.

Record every tiled surface separately, including length and height, openings, niches, returns and changes of plane. Keep net area separate from the allowance. Then confirm the tile or sheet dimensions, actual coverage, joint pattern, carton quantity and likely edge cuts for the exact product before converting area into an order quantity.

It estimates whole sheets from measurements and a user-entered sheet size. It does not confirm a product, carton, batch, price, freight or installation suitability.

Choose grout as part of the complete installation system. The tile material and finish, joint width and depth, wet or dry exposure, cleaning products, substrate movement and compatibility with the adhesive and membrane all matter. Follow written manufacturer instructions and test possible staining or scratching on a spare piece first.

Some materials and finishes may need sealing; others may not. Confirm the requirement for the exact tile, grout and intended location instead of assuming from appearance alone. A sealer can affect colour, sheen, slip behaviour and maintenance, so follow the manufacturer’s instructions and test it on an offcut or spare piece.

Every listing is a tile we source, with its own photograph, size, finish and model reference. Slip class is recorded for part of the range; where it is not, the row reads Not specified rather than filling the gap in. No page here states a frost, load or structural classification for any tile.

Samples are: every tile lists a sample piece at A$3.00, delivered free anywhere in Australia with no minimum order value. Delivery of full tiles is charged by order value and destination state, from A$79 in ACT, NSW, QLD, SA and VIC and from A$169 in WA, NT and TAS, and free from A$1,200 in those five.
