A shorter tile follows a wall that sits a few millimetres out of true, where a longer one announces every hollow behind it. What it asks back is roughly twice as many joints per square metre as a 600 mm square, so the grout colour stops being a detail and becomes part of the pattern.

The tiles made in this format run through matt, rough textured, gloss, polished and soft polished faces. In a brick bond the trade rule for a long rectangle is a third offset rather than a half: a half offset lands the middle of one tile against its neighbour's corner.
AS 4586 slip class varies by tile and is recorded on each product page where the supplier states one; some record none. The values are from the supplier's current documentation; we do not hold the underlying test reports. The format itself is not a cart choice either — checkout sells a purchase unit.
